Paul was born and raised in Slough, Berkshire in the UK.
He went to Manchester University to study Biological Sciences while spending summers doing voluntary work in France and the United States. After university, he taught English in Japan and Australia and upon his return he worked at the BBC and Red Bee Media while becoming involved with British Sign Language and the Deaf community. He left to start working with Deaf students in education in 2005.
At present, he is completing a post-graduate qualification in English/BSL interpreting at University of Central Lancashire while working in the educational and community domains.
He first attended efsli conference in 2009 and was elected treasurer in 2010.
