Trainers profiles

Dr Christopher Stone
Born in England (London 26/02/73) and now based there after spending ten years in Bristol.

He currently works as a British Sign Language/English interpreter, Interpreter Trainer, Presenter, Lecturer, post-doctoral researcher and occasionally in International Sign.

Christopher Graduated in 1997 from the University of Bristol with an post Graduate Diploma in “British Sign language/English Interpreting”. He completed his MSc in 2001 and his PhD in 2006 titled, ‘Towards a Deaf translation norm’.

He has been a member of ASLI (the Association of Sign Language Interpreters for England, Wales and Northern Ireland) since 1996 and served on its National Executive Committee (Board) since 1997; more recently as National Vice-Chair (2005-7) and National Chair (2007 - present).

He is also a Member of the Register of Sign Language Interpreters (IRP/CACDP) in the UK.

Christopher is currently the External Examiner for Wolverhampton University.

Marco Nardi
Although born in Italy (Florence 12/07/68) Marco is now based in the city of “Brighton and Hove”, England.

He currently works as a British Sign Language/English interpreter, Interpreter Trainer, Presenter, Lecturer, Italian Sign Language/Italian and occasionally in International Sign.

Marco Graduated in 1997 from the University of Durham with an MA in “British Sign language/English Interpreting”. He attended the programme Advanced Diploma in “Continuing Education” at the university of Sussex (1995/6).

He has been a member of ANIOS (Italian Sign Language Interpreters Association) since 1991 and served on the Board of ‘efsli’ since 1995 the last 4 years 2002-2006 as President.

Marco is a member of ASLI (the Association of Sign Language Interpreters for England, Wales and Northern Ireland) and has sat on the National Executive. 

He is also a member of the register (IRP/CACDP) in the country of residence.

Marco has been also External examiner for the University of central Lancashire and he is currently for the university of Durham.

He was elected as the WASLI representative for Europe at the WASLI inaugural conference in South Africa 2005.   He has agreed to serve a further term of two-year at the WASLI 2007 conference in Segovia.
