Her contribution was acknowledged and she was presented with a range of gifts and also with flowers. Thank you Michèle.
Anitta Vesamäki (SVT Finland) gave a presentation from the 3 organisations that had made a bid to design a new logo/image for EFSLI. The members present discussed the designs presented and then voted on the one they liked the most.
It was great to have two delegates, Vera Jovanovic and Ana Lukic, from Serbia Montenegro attend an EFSLI AGM and Seminar for the first time. They were able to attend thanks to the funds raised in the EFSLI Special Attendance Fund.
At the end of the conference in 2004, the balance of funds was Euros 582.20. Donations up to the end of August totalled Euros 1309.00. There was also a refund of Euros 420.00. Sponsorship of Euros612.00 was paid out leaving a balance of Euros 1699.20. A collection was taken on the last day of the Seminar. People donated monies in 5 different currencies. Marco Nardi (EFSLI President) gave a presentation on some of the issues EFSLI members need to consider about the World Association. An International Conference for Sign Language Interpreters will take place in Worcester, South Africa 30 October – 2 November 2005. Marco’s aim was to try as best possible to get the views of members in relation to a number of issues including, the Name, the Legal Seat and how EFSLI can represent its members.
Marco Nardi (EFSLI President) facilitated discussions and provided updates on the work of the EFSLI Departments and then invited members to contribute on what they would like to see.
EFSLI has a simple organisation structure. It is made up of 8 Departments. Each Department has a Head who is a Board member. Each Department has a Strategy (or plan of action) and it is the responsibility of each Head to make sure the work of the strategy is done.
The EFSLI Conference was due to take place in Genoa, Italy but due to unfortunate circumstances the host was no longer able to do this. It meant that in May/June the EFSLI Board needed to find an alternative. Mads Zwick Bulken and Kit Horlacher stepped in to assist and did a wonderful job to make this weekend a success.
