efsli Working Seminar II: Towards a standard curriculum for sign language interpreters across Europe

Coming to an agreement on learning outcomes and curriculum content

On 26 & 27 March 2012 efsli will hold its second working seminar on sign language interpreters’ qualification systems in Europe. This working seminar will be hosted by the Institute of German Sign Language and Communication of the Deaf (Institut für Deutsche Gebärdensprache und Kommunikation Gehörloser ), at the University of Hamburg .

The aim of this seminar is to come to an agreement on the content of a standard curriculum for sign language interpreters across Europe. To achieve this objective, participants will receive in advance a working document with the proposals resulting from the outcomes of the first working seminar (held in Utrecht last November 2011).  This working document will serve as a basis for discussion in the different parallel workshops.

The working seminar is open for all sign language interpreters trainers, training institutions and sign language interpreters across Europe.

This seminar will have the following schedule:

  • Monday 26 March, from 8:45 to 17:30
  • Tuesday 27 March, from 9:00 to 13:00

This seminar offers an exciting new programme, with next to parallel session, a dedicated session on research and a networking session.

Languages

The working languages during the seminar are English and International Sign.

Deadlines:

  • Early bird registration (+ payment) deadline is 17 February 2012: 125 euros for efsli individual, full and associate members (up to two representatives)/ 240 euros (non-members)
  • Regular registration after 17 February 2012: 155 euros for efsli individual, full and associate members (up to two representatives)/265 euros (non-members)
  • Final registration deadline: 22 March 2012

Cancellation policy

Please be advised that if you wish to cancel your registration then the following applies. If your cancellation is received:

  • before 17 February 2012: 50% refund minus bank transfer fee
  • from 17 February - 15 March 2012: 25% refund minus bank transfer fee
  • after 16 March 2012: no refund

Changes in registration: 50 Euro (will be applied if you decide not to cancel your registration but send someone else instead of you).
Cancellations must be send by email to admin@efsli.org and need to be confirmed by the seminar organisers.
 

Venue

The seminar will be held at the Institute of German Sign Language and Communication of the Deaf (Institut für Deutsche Gebärdensprache und Kommunikation Gehörloser), at the University of Hamburg: Binderstrasse 34, Hamburg.

From Hamburg airport  to Hamburg city centre:
HVV, the Hamburg public transit network, runs the S-Bahnn-line (suburban railway) S1 which links the airport directly to the city centre every ten minutes. The trip to the central train station (Hauptbahnhof) takes approximately 25 minutes.

There are different options. Single tickets are valid for one person and one trip. Buy one from any ticket vending machine or bus driver. The price will depend on the areas and the distance.
