EFSLI 2007 Switzerland
The Swiss German Sign Language Interpreters Association (bgd) hold the EFSLI AGM and Conference 2007 from 14 –16 September 2007 in Zurich, Switzerland.
The topic of the conference was
Setting Quality Standards and the following issues were discussed:
• Is it possible to guarantee quality standards in the diverse field of Sign
Language interpreting? Which instruments can be used to assess
quality?
• What are different countries undertaking to ensure that the right
interpreter is at the right assignment?
• How is it possible for new interpreters to prove themselves in the field?
What kind of tests, certificates and titles are there?
• How can we cope with the sense of competition, which may arise when
quality-based standards and salaries are established?
The conference was held at the Novotel in downtown Zurich.
